Interesting article which describes why insurance rates are going up by double digits this year and how to cope with it.
A number of the seniors I see in my home visiting practice are affected by this. I’m hoping things work out.
However, I am still glad to see that mental health and substance abuse parity is still going into effect, even if it is a source of some of the increase. With 26.2% of Americans dealing with a mental health diagnosis in a given year, that’s more than 1 in 4 coming down with something which needs treatment, which is often too expensive to be paid out of pocket alone. When employers see that 1 out of every 4 (or so) employees may have a mental health issue, they will be happy to see increased productivity and attendance from good treatment when parity kicks in.
