Racial pride leads to less mental health issues.

I’ve seen this in the news recently and just wanted to say how much of a no-brainer this is.

Basically, the study in question suggests that African-American youth who were studied who have more ethnic pride are more likely to have better self-esteem and less mental health issues. I agree that this is true for the African-Americans I’ve counseled as well as pretty much anyone else.

The more you know who you are and where you come from, and the more you are at peace with that, the better self-esteem you will have.
