Just wanted to let you know that I am going to be going back to school, pending a natural disaster. I’ve decided to go ahead and apply for the Certificate of Advanced Standing in Pastoral Counseling (cf. a description of what this is here.). This should take about 3 years to complete.
Here are a couple of pages of notes which describe salient points about the program from the discussion I had today with staff at Neumann University, where I am applying. Essentially it is a list of questions followed by a list of answers corresponding with the questions. Ignore the audio–it has nothing to do with the notes and has to do with my testing out my smartpen.
If you are curious about my smartpen, whereby I took the notes, look here.
What does this mean?
Classes are held in the evenings from about 4:30 to 10 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays. Essentially, students in the program take classes on a once/week basis, one class per week. In the short term, this should mean that nothing significant happens for my clients. However, in the fall, I may be moving my availability for my Wednesday evening clients to another night, such as Friday night or Tuesday night. Monday night will not be affected.
I will also begin to be available to provide pastoral counseling as well as traditional psychotherapy/social work services. Therefore, if a person comes to me with spiritual issues, I will be able to help them more efficiently and effectively.
Starting in February, I will also be available on Friday mornings from 9am-1pm (last appointment starting at 12pm). It is my eventual hope that I will be available even more hours. It is hoped that my increased availability will help somewhat with some of the flexibility I may need from Wednesday clients as I return to school.
I hope you are excited as I am! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to let me know by dropping a comment or calling me at 610-659-2744.
