Semper Fi.

Remembering the 241 Beirut bombing victims and the survivors today. Special prayers go to a classmate of mine and her family at Rota, Spain, whose brother was taken home 30 years ago today. I remember meeting the Marines coming back from that when I was 16 and helping them out at Victory Villa, a missionary outfit in Rota for servicemen run by the Navigators. It was my first experience of seeing the “Thousand Mile Stare,” and one of my first introductions to what would become my clinical specialty of PTSD. God knows I wish that I wasn’t introduced that way, but it is what it is.

Please take a moment and remember them. To my classmate, I simply say a heartfelt and prayerful “Semper Fi”.
