Give an Hour

I was a member of this organization in the past, but found at the time that I was not able to do it due to not having a large enough caseload of paying clients. I am pleased to announce that I have busy, and have resubmitted an application to them. I anticipate being approved soon to take a client or two through this program which provides pro bono services to active duty military, their families, or veterans of post-9/11 military actions.

GAH is a service which coordinates volunteer mental health providers with active duty servicemen/women and their families, as well as post-9/11 veterans.

As a Navy Brat (son of a sailor), I have always had a place in my life for serving our military, ever since I was 16, when I was overseas and met survivors of the Beirut Marine Barracks bombing in 1983 and served them dinner at a church gathering.

In my work as a clinical social worker and a pastoral counselor, I have enjoyed helping veterans and their families reintegrate into our society. I also enjoy providing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to them as well. This is one of the least invasive and most effective PTSD treatments out there right now. I have been practicing EMDR since 1992.

Pretty soon, I’ll let you know when I get re-approved to take clients, and if you know someone in the Philly/Delaware County/New Castle County area who needs services, cannot otherwise afford it, and who has difficulty with receiving services at the VA, I can see if I will be a good fit for them.
